Shopping in Stockholm

The very first day we woke up in Stockholm the sun was shining and a look out of the window showed a stunningly beautiful scenery: a real forest with typically Swedish houses scattered here and there . On the other side of the building we saw a mass of apartment buildings. You probably already guessed: we stayed in a suburb called Haninge.

That day we decided to go to the center of town and do some checking out and maybe some shopping. The city of Stockholm is very beautiful: spacious, clean, very 21st century with lots of designer shops. It was fashionweek and so we saw models and photograpers and, of course, a lot of media. The fashion for women in Sweden is much like the fashion for women in Amsterdam, except there is more choice for women over 30. However, the fashion for boys is very timid: blue jeans and chequered shirts. No gangsta outfits for miles around and only a few skaters. Lots of Gothics, though! You don't see Vans or Nike Airs but you do see many people wearing All Stars. So I bought a few things for myself but my son only bought some t-shirts at Footlocker.

After a long day we went home, tired! Next time: outing to Skansen. Hej!

Hello!

Hello everybody!

This afternoon I decided I will start a new blog. I will ask my students to write reactions to my stories or to write their own stories in the box “reaction”.  I will write about my holiday to Stockholm in Sweden. My uncle lives there with two of my three cousins: Royana and Bea. This summer Patrick (my son) and I went to see them. It was a wonderful week!

Day one: we left from Amsterdam by train to Eindhoven, then we took the bus to Eindhoven Airport, and from there the plane to Skavsen, south of Stockholm. It took a long time but it was a lot cheaper than flying with KLM. However, we were only allowed one bag per person and I had two (my handbag included) so we had to solve that first. Secondly, the chairs were a bit close together so I didn't have much space for my legs. But as the flight only took an hour and a half that was not really a problem. I guess I'm a bit spoilt by always flying KLM. All in all it wasn't a bad deal, this flying Ryan Air :-)
When we landed in Skavsen at half past eleven in the evening Uncle Siegfried and Royana and Bea were waiting for us. After an hour and a half by car we were finally at our destination: Haninge, Sverige, hurrahhhh! We were tired and famished but uncle Siegfried had dinner ready for us: spaghetti and meatballs. We made short work of our dinner! Then it was time to talk a little and finally: off to bed!
